HISTORY
OF AKRON POLICE CREDIT UNION
The
Akron Police Department Credit Union is a non-profit financial cooperative
chartered by the Ohio Department of Commerce. Our credit union is
not a bank, savings & loan or a house of finance; it is a special
group of people who have joined together to manage their own money
by saving together and lending to each other.
Founded on February 14, 1938 by seven police officers who had donated
$10.00 each for the approval of the Articles of Incorporation, our
credit union began providing financial services to Akron Police
Officers and their families. Due to the expansion of our
service facilities and loan products, our credit union is now able
to invite our neighboring law enforcement agencies
to join us in this common bond.
It shall remain our intent to continue a tradition of more than 70 years of providing financial services to our select group of members and their families.
